Yesterday we celebrated Katie's 14th birthday. She had lunch at her favorite restaurant, Turkos, and spent the afternoon riding horses with some of her closest friends. Later in the evening, we had huge fiesta. More than 50 people came to our house to celebrate her birthday. We sang a few songs, played a few games, ate popcorn, pizza, cookies & cheesitos. And of course we had cake, and following the Peruvian tradition, Katie had the cake shoved in her face. This just means that she is really loved!!
Several people stood and offered words of encouragement to Katie, and one of our good friends, Efrain, prayed for Katie. It was a great evening. We are honored to have made so many good friends during this year we have lived in Arequipa. We are really going to miss them!!
